Is the Import Tuner Car Scene Dying?
How so? They killed all of the really great engines and built things like the 1NZ-FSE (Prius, Yuck!!). In my mind and probably the mind of other people, the Prius was one ofВ В the four horse men that would bring an end to the Import Tuner lifestyle that we all love. The one were going stupid fast, burning a lot of gas, a lot of rubber, and making the hole bigger in the Ozone! (Ok maybe not this part)
Don’t I care about the future of my children, who will end up living on this earth, the same earth we break down with carbon dioxide. Yeah, but I don’t have kids and this might be a good excuse to not have any. Ok maybe not. But really I want kids, and even the most diehard Import Tuner lover, who drinks 90-up octane, and belches flames, while watching the Expendables; probably wants a kid too.
So that’s the pitch; we shouldn’t be driving fast and start driving a prius because it will save the environment and make it a better place for kids and ourselves in the future. Don’t forget the fact that if we instantly de-accelerate into a wall that our future may not be bright too. May…
But really a Hybrid engine over a regular engine. Have you ever revved a Hybrid? Do you know how depressing that sounds? Have you heard a 2JZ rev, or 4g63, or a 20 valve? All those beautiful ear shattering harmonics, replaced by an asthmatic engine gasping for air through a straw? NO I WILL NOT HAVE IT!!
Or maybe I will. The car manufacturers seem to make it look like it.
Mitsubishi decided to hand over the fastest four door, turbocharged, 4 Wheel Drive,4-door, Crown to Subaru, by making the Evo 11 a hybrid. It is Mitsubishi,В so maybe it will be OK or maybe it will be awful. This could be an re enactment of the way that the Eclipse died or ten times worse; because it is going to be a hybrid.
There are few Car companies who have always made sure that they had something for the Import Tuner crowd. Honda by continuing the Type R, the Civic and the S2000. Mazda for theВ Mazda 3 or 6 and the Miata. Nissan for the GTR R35 and Lexus/Toyota for the L-FA. While the last two mentioned shouldn’t be put on the list because mere humans do not have the pockets to buy these unicorns. They are what the industry needs. Hardcore Import Tuner cars.
